About

 Barbara Blake

As host of 94.7, The Wave's highly rated "Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch", Southern Californians know Barbara as an uplifting friend who draws them into the gracious living experience with her tantalizing descriptions of the cuisine, atmosphere, and cordiality of the two fine restaurants where the live broadcast takes place.  A testament to the effectiveness of Barbara's enticing delivery is the fact that both i Cugini in Santa Monica and Spaghettini Grill and Jazz Club in Seal Beach are filled to capacity every Sunday with happy Wave listeners who have made the Brunch their premier destination for special occasions.

As an actress, former stockbroker and life-time adventurer, Barbara has traveled the world with an eye to uncovering the invisible connections that tie us all together and give life depth and meaning.  Born in Pennsylvania and a long-time resident of New York, she now considers Los Angeles her true home.  She thinks of her beautiful voice and smooth delivery as a vehicle for sharing herself and her enjoyment of life on many levels.  And this skilled communicator has done just that on top radio stations from Honolulu to Boston, Paris to Mauritius.  "The intimacy of radio suits my character.  I enjoy the way it allows me to connect my individuality, imagination and heart with that of the listener", Barbara says.  "The transcendent power of music has always brought us together.  When people tune into Smooth Jazz heard on The WAVE, they're able to tune out life's harsher realities, groove and reconnect with their own better natures.  It's a privilege to be able to communicate with people on that wave-length.  That I'm able to expand on that experience with them on Sundays at the Brunch in an environment of beauty, sensory pleasure, friendly conversation and good will makes it all the more satisfying.
